Help! I had noticed last night that my chick had pasty butt, however I didn’t know exactly what it was and thought she’d be fine. Today I saw her and the poop was dry. I also read online that it can kill the schick. I didn’t do any research and ended up pulling the poop off. In doing so I tore off a bit of her fluff- because of this I put antibiotic cream on the bald spot and will continue to do so. I also noticed that her butt seems to be moving in and out like she’s trying to push out poop but can’t, what should I do? She seems to be fine other than that. She’s not chirping loud or anything she’s chilling in there. What should I do?

Can you get another photo that is clear and well lit?

Are you looking at the vent or the navel?
Is the navel closed?

Hard to tell in the photo, but it looks like I'm seeing the navel and vent?

If the Vent gets pasted, use a bit of warm running water and gently wash the Vent. Dry her well using a hair dryer, you don't want her to get chilled. The put her back in the brooder making sure she can get to the heat source. Are you using a lamp, heating pad or brooder plate?

It's fine to apply a little ointment to the vent. Sometimes the vent does pulse so I wouldn't worry about that too much if she's not in distress or straining to poop.

See that they have plenty of fresh water to drink and are eating the chick starter really well.

As it’s getting late I’m not gonna disturb the chicks but I can take another one tmr. I’m not very understanding when it comes to chicken anatomy, but I believe the vent is in the top? There is a little yellow bulge thing- is that the navel? I did put a bit of aquaphor on her behind and she pooped on my finger so she might be alright. Still concerned about that bulge though. We use a lamp.

How old is she? It looks like she might have a prolapse, but I’m not sure.
I've got one with the red hanging out. What you mean? I'm worried because he seems smaller and less active. Sitting in the sun resting. I soaked him and cleaned him up and put Vaseline. Anything else I can do? The others are fine

I got a couple of photos now so any ideas would be much appreciated. I gave him another bath with Epsom salts and got him to drink a little bit of coconut oil along with some water and I saw him eating earlier so I'm not sure what to do now.
