I have a Speckled Sussex pullet who seems to be acting strange. She isn’t including herself in the group as often, isn’t as active as normal, and her comb is very pale. She seems to be breathing funny as well. She is around 4.5 months. She has access to food, water, and shade to get out of the heat. Any ideas? Below is a link to a video of the pullet.

I’m unable to get the video. Maybe try uploading to YouTube or something similar, with a link posted here. Has she been laying eggs? Have you noticed any soft or shell-less eggs in the nest box? Can you describe her breathing? Is it gasping, rattles or crackles, ow wheezing? Is her lower belly enlarged or spongy? How does her crop feel—empty or full, firm or squishy? Can you check her skin for any mites or lice? Has she eaten or drunk anything today? I would offer some wet and dry chicken feed, some watery cooked egg, and some water up to her beak 2-3 times today. Poultry NutriDrench 2 ml may give her a boost.

I could access the video, and i downloaded it to the gallery.

Hopefully you can see it now

Her skin on her beak is ballooning out with each breath, and her vent seems to be pulsating as well. If she could be starting to lay, could you give her a human calcium tablet with vitamin D, or a Tums orally?

@Eggcessive @Chicken_Obsesser Thank you everyone for your responses. She has not started laying yet and I haven’t seen signs of any type of eggs. She will drink when I put her beak to water. I haven’t seen her eat but her crop has a little in it. Her crop is soft, you can mush around the food in it. She seems to be panting but now it’s almost like a wheezing. I don’t see any lice or mites on her. She has runny poop. Here are updated videos
