Help with my pullet

Could you post a picture of the constricted pupil? I was just reading an article about a hen with a tumor around her beak and neck that had a constricted pupil that looked just like ocular Mareks, but the eye was cancerous as well from the neck lesion. If you do get a necropsy, please update your thread with any final results.

@OrpingtonManiac No canker sores. Thank you for the suggestion though! And @Eggcessive attached is a picture of her pupil. I’m leaning towards mareks because the other symptoms she has match it. I will definitely post the necropsy results!

Usually people that have ocular Mareks report that both eyes are usually affected. I sure hope that someone did not sell you a hen with Mareks. With all of the contagious diseases around with chickens, it would scare me to ever buy chickens from another person. Healthy chicks from a hatchery or feedstore that gets them from a hatchery is best.

We purchase our pullets from a breeder that only sells pullets at 2 months. They also vax for mareks! I think the issue is our town has wild chickens and they love to come visit our yard and see our hens/pullets. My guess is that they are carriers and exposed our flock with their infected dander. 😬 My husband and I decided that if the necropsy confirms Mareks, we won’t be getting anymore chickens unfortunately.
