Was her deterioration due to the impacted gizzard or was that due to her weakening body? I was honestly expecting mareks since we had another put down a month earlier and results were mareks but not pcr verified.
I feel really bad if she was going downhill just because of the grass. Does this give anyone ideas of what could have been going on?

She also had infectious bronchitis.

If the gizzard was impacted with material, then not much food was going through. In one of your threads you mentioned she was losing weight - so she was not getting nutrition from what she was eating.

The way I read the necropsy diagnosis (1) was the gizzard impaction - so that would be the main finding. (2) was the kidney inflammation which is secondary.

Thank you!

It is interesting that they did not examine tissue from the crop or gizzard. I don’t know a lot about Mareks, but it can cause tumors in the crop and gizzard. They may have not seen anything suspicious. Infectious bronchitis virus can cause both kidney and oviduct issues later in life. Do you have granite poultry grit available for your chickens to take as needed for digestion? Sorry for your loss.

Thank you, I always have granite grit and oyster shell in different bowls for them to eat when they need it. I am thinking about seeing if I could get a mareks test done with a blood sample. It's been a difficult time :(
