Hi, I’ve been browsing this forum for a while and learned a lot about keeping chickens. Recently I saw my rooster limping a bit so i went to check the leg and found this strange injury, I don’t know how it happened since we don’t have any predators here and he doesn’t need to fight anyone.
I don’t have any vet around that treats chickens but the local one gave an antibiotic cream named Adermil and I gave him half of an aspirin to help him with the pain.
How should I proceed? Can he heal with the cream? Thank you so much

Keep it clean and make sure flies don't get into it and lay eggs.

I'm not familiar with that cream but I would think it would be better than an over the counter ointment.

It is an odd place. It almost looks like a bite from the picture even though you don't have predators. Is there anything sharp or pointy he could have injured himself on?

Thank you very much for your reply. I’ve been keeping it clean daily with saline solution and applying the cream, it has betamethasone and other things.
I know it’s such an odd place, and we don’t have anything sharp or pointy. My best bet is that maybe he tried to pick a fight with my sister’s dog which is terrified of him lol and he bit him, but it really is a strange injury!

It looks like a scrape, but make sure that it isn’t raised around the edges. That could indicate a skin cancer. I would clean it with saline or wound spray and apply antibiotic ointment twice a day.
Thank you! It isn’t raised so I’m more relaxed now. It def looks more like a scrape so I will keep doing just that

Update: he’s getting better! Now he can stand for longer periods of time and he just looks better overall, he still lays around more often than before but he’s improving:) i still won’t rule out a tumor tho
If anyone from Argentina is reading this I would recommend the Dermil cream
