Hi!

I'm Kierran, and I actually don't own any chickens. If this isn't the right place for this please let me know, and I'm really sorry!

I'm actually a producer on a podcast called Weird Work. We talk to people who have little known jobs, hear about their daily life, how they got into thier industry. Basically, the goal is to show that you don't have to have a 9-5 job in an office, because we talk to people who love what they do outsie of that.

I'm trying to get in touch with a chicken sexer for the show, and I was wondering if anyone in this forum knows someone who might want to talk to me about this. Does anyone know a super passionate chicken sexer?

Side note - if you guys have any other leads about little-known jobs in chicken raising, I'm all ears! feel free to respond or just message me directly! Thanks!

You are going to find chick sexers near the chicken hatcheries. You might want to call one of the hatcheries to see if the hatchery can connect you with a sexer. You could also talk to them to see if any other jobs at the hatchery might be useful.

Depending on where you live, the big hatcheries employ sexer of day old chicks, and that's where you need to inquire. 'Dirty jobs' with Mike Rowe had a program at MurrayMcMurray a few years ago, as I recall. Mary

I'm pretty good myself at the older ones, and I know someone who is had more experience than me. By I enjoy sexing 2-3 month olds, especially so I know the ratio or rooster's to hens. I love helping out others in sexing their chickens. I can ask the other person too, and see if they are interested.

This is primarily a hobbyist site. I'm sure some here make enough on chickens to call it a job but you probably won't get their attention with the question you asked. Perhaps rephrase it and post somewhere like the breeding section. And yes, calling hatcheries is how I'd search for a sexer to interview.
