10 month australorp presenting with watery poop for about a week now. It took me a bit to figure out who it was, but I was finding loose poop under the roost and wet spots (not cecal) in the shavings and run. Also the poop seemed to be a different color than normal (lighter green), they don’t free range and the only veg/fruit they have received recently is cucumber and blueberries (and those poops are pretty obvious). Today I found the poops below.

She’s eating, laying (yesterday) and drinking. I sat inside their walk in and just observed them this afternoon and she seems to hunker down a bit with her eyes closed like she’s not feeling 100%. But she gets up and “chickens” with everyone too. I’m not finding her in a corner by herself at all and she gets outside and does her thing with the others.

I started a corrid tx about 4 days ago just in case. We had a fecal done about 2 months ago and it was negative…but it was 2 months ago. I don’t have an avian vet I can call (the one who came out previously-I won’t have him back + it took him almost a full month to send me the fecal results)

ETA: they are fed Nutrena All Flock, and have access to fresh water, grit, and oyster shell at all time. This is my hen with the genetic nictitating membrane issue, though she hasn’t had eye irritation for quite a few months now. She’s never had any other issues since we’ve had her.

I can worm, tx with ABs (I have Tylan, baytril & amoxicillin on hand for emergencies), or just watch. I don’t like to treat not knowing what this is, but also don’t want to ignore if this looks like something others with experience have seen. Any advise is welcome. Thanks!

I would add probiotics to her food, or yogurt to stabilize her gut.

Thanks for everyone’s help. I did add probiotics to her water on Friday and she’s been drinking it. Eating seems normal from what I can see. Crop appears to be emptying normally. She hasn’t laid an egg since last Thursday and she’s been pretty regular every day or every other day since she started laying in February. She’s not acting egg bound in any classical sense (based on what I’ve read here and online).

I did hear some crazy loud egg songing happening in the coop this afternoon but no egg to be found. I only have 2 girls laying and the other hen had laid this morning which I collected early in the AM. I haven’t found this one sitting in the box so…not quite sure what to make of this. Will see how she is in the morning.

If she's not laid and is hunkering down, I'd give her Extra Calcium asap. You can find Calcium Citrate+D3 at stores like Walmart, CVS, etc. Give 1 tablet once daily for a week.

If you don't have Calcium Citrate on hand now, you can give her 1 TUMS until you can get some.

Thank you. I have Tums in their med box. I’ll give her one of those in the morning and run to the store to get the calcium citrate.

Can she have that in the afternoon if I give her a Tums in the AM?

I'd just give the extra Calcium once daily, so if she has a TUMS in the morning wait until the next day to give more of either one.

I’ve got her in a crate in the walk in coop, tums, with wet mash and some scrambled egg and then poultry cell/probiotics in her water. She didn’t eat when I fed everyone this morning or since she’s been in the crate. She felt a little bit swollen (soft swelling but not squishy nor significantly large ) between her legs when I palpated her before I put her in the crate. She pooped a very small amount in the crate (I have a white towel down so I can monitor easier).

Should we also do an epsom salt soak at this point? I have plenty in our barn tack room. Am running out to get calcium citrate later this morning.
