"Learn as I go" is never the best entrance, especially since animals are a bucket of responsibility ; ) but if you need help, we are here.
As for tips, it is helpful to have those secure coop areas done before the chicks are ready to fledge ; )

Thank you for the article! I actually did quite a bit of reading for a couple of years before starting my flock, I simply meant that experience is the best teacher We already have a coop in place. I'm even digging a small pond for my Rouens. But considering some of my chicks are unsexed, I AM worried about roosters so I appreciate the info!
