Hello, I posted about our roo, and crop surgery a while ago. He has been doing amazing came back strong and kicking booty. However we have a slight problem.... the whole in his chest went from the size of a mandarin and is now about the size of a dime. We can not for the life of us get the hole to close. Stitches, wrapping.... anything... the hole is holding strong... any advice on how to get the hole to close??? Any veternary advice when stitching??? He has the desire to live... which is why we just don't want to put him down... however this hole is keeping him from living his full life?!?!?

I separated my hen and she had water leaking from her chest , does this happen? My hens crop busted and the food and water had to clump together so the skin could grow over it.

He is separated, he lives in our house now to keep him safe. Yes, he's leaking food and water through his chest.

Okay I just let the food and water mix \ get wet in her chest then patching the whole and my hens chest sealed up I also used some silver honey spray on it ( works wonders)
It looks gross I also put a disclaimer this method could lead to infection, but I was willing to risk it for my hens life!
I'm no expert but my hen is running around again

We ended up having to preform surgery to remove the obstructions, which upon doing so, the roo was necrotizing from the inside crop!

From what I can tell, his skin is healing well, but now that he ripped his stitches out he looks as if his crop is "dying"? I rebandaged him and lathered him in wound ointment.
These above posts are from March 20th and 30th, so he had surgery going on almost 9 weeks ago?

Photos of the wound/hole?
You had mentioned that the skin/crop was necrotizing/dying. What do you mean?

When you stitched, you stitched the inner layer of skin (the crop) and the outer (skin) right?
2 layers.

No vets here if that's what you're looking for, just chicken keepers like you. At this point if it's been this long and he's not healing up, then seeking vet care is probably your best option.
