So the humidity keeps dropping over night and a few times a day to 20-30% (it’s dry here) and I’m trying to keep it at 45-55%. Is the frequent dropping/raising bad for the eggs? 😬

It shouldn't hurt them.
I am keeping my eggs at 30-35%. Keep an eye on the air cell level. If it is roughly above or below where it should be, adjust the humidity.

Mine were on track at day 7, so I didn't change anything.

Day 9 - Candling!

This is all brand new to me, so I'm not exactly sure about everything we're looking for here. I had my daughter take photos of all of them so you all could take a look.

#1-6 = Silkies

#1 - Is this a blood line? 😢

#2 - ??? The shape of this even looks like a small chicken, right? 😅 But it looks so different from the others?

#3 - Clear yolker. 😢 I cracked it open but the yolk broke. I don't know if you can tell anything from it or not.

#4 - Dark with air cell means looking good, right?

#5 - I see an air cell, but I don't think I saw any veins.

#7-12 = Easter Eggers (really dark)

I guess these Easter Eggers look good? They all looked dark with an air cell, except #11 looked lighter to me. I couldn't see much else. 🧐

I am planning to keep them all in right now and check again before lockdown. But I would like to know which ones you all think might be questionable so we don't get our hopes up. 🙏

I have been having trouble keeping a consistent humidity. I am trying to keep it at 45-55%, but it drops every night to 18-20% and then when I add water, raises to about 58-60% until it calms down again. 🤦‍♀️

What do you all think? :jumpy☺️

Only egg 4 and 2 look viable for the silkies 😔
