How do you get your chickens to eat cabbage?

Not sure how old your chickens are, but when I offered it to my first batch at maybe 18wks old - they just looked at the hanging cabbage and walked away. I left it for a couple of days and finally discarded it, untouched. So, I never tried it again until the next spring when they were older and they loved it. I guess the next batch learned from the older girls because they never hesitated a second. Some people recommend sprinkling a loved food on top of the new food, so maybe you could cut one in half, and sprinkle something they really like on it. They may never warm up to it, mine still won't eat pumpkin, raw or uncooked, no matter what I sprinkle on it. They just eat the goodies off and move on.

I got mine to eat it the same way I got the dh and dk's to eat it; sauteed with bacon and pepper. Now I chop it up and give it to them raw, sometimes just cut it in half. They love it. Now broccoli, not so much.

Mine won't.

I've sprinkled their favorite food on it, but they just cock their heads and look at me like I'm crazy. It's like "Hey, we have plenty of green stuff around here. We're ABOVE eating cabbage."
