How Do You Stop a Hen From Crowing?

Some hens will crow, usually if there is not a rooster in the flock. It's something with hormones I think? @aart knows much more about it than I do I think. (Sorry if I tagged the wrong person)
Gracie does it first thing when they get up in the morning then again about mid-morning. I have no idea why. I shush her as fast as I can cause I don’t want any issues with the neighbors. We will have to wait and see what happens.

I have a hen that does this almost every day at about 5 in the morning she is 6 and seams to have stopped laying, witch may be because she is old but I also have a 8 year old hen who lays up to twice a day.

I have never known them to lay twice a day, interesting. I also didn’t know hens would crow so that’s how much I know! LOL! This girl of mine lays every to every other day, big brown eggs, along with her sister. ❤️

hens do not crow, you can say yes its a she, but if SHE is crowing then she is a he LOL maybe you better post a pic of her/he so the experts here can tell you what it is.
Hens can, in fact, crow. I have one americana who was regularly laying up until the lat season and started crowing last fall. She is five years old
