How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

It was a mad scramble to get enough eggs for everyone today. Mum went on an Easter egg hunt in the barn and found 24 egg - phew! Made to 8 dozen my cousin wanted! The fridge is empty of eggs - but not for long I sure - tomorrow I will have at least another dozen

Another 15/15 today. I guess they know it's Easter time! Lol.

We dyed colored eggs today with the Paas Neon kit. It's a pretty bright dye color kit. We will probably be hunting eggs inside this Sunday. Looks like rain.

0. just as fast as they were starting up after a moult they stopped again.. It's mid autumn/fall here but I do have 6 pullets that are coming to the age they could lay so I'm hoping they start soon and I don't have to wait for spring

3 in the preferred nest box, 1 randomly on the ground.
With 4 broodies on deck. They are exhausting me! 4 separate enclosures with waterers and feeders and messy broody poops, lol. Tonight we had to play "hot potato broody" while I got the second eldest chicks (16) moved into the coop, the broody with week olds into their prior pen (with run), then the hen that was hatching eggs for Easter (Freckles) into the XXL dog cage brooder... well as I picked her up to move in the dark, there was cheeping, and out pops a chick from under her leg in the new spot. Then I saw 3 more chicks in her old nest. How? They're due on Easter! Maybe I lost track of the days... anyway, so they're all settled. Then I had to candle Satins eggs and tossed all but 4, as she had crushed one and made a mess.
And Goldie is all set up in her broody cage for the neighbors to borrow her... but they are waiting to gather enough eggs. Umm, come get her please?
Meanwhile, I'm checking on the incubator which is cheeping for the Easter hatch. No pips yet. Plan is to stick them in with Freckles. I must say Freckles is the nicest broody, I can lift her wing and stuff chicks under without her trying to eat me.
*But NO more broodies until fall at the earliest, I mean it!

I didn't plan on hatching AT ALL this Spring ... but The Girls certainly have minds of their own, don't they?

I got 11 eggs and one serious stinkeye from a wannabe broody, today. She didn't get to keep any, but I'm absolutely positive that this game isn't over, yet ...
