What kind of chicks did you get?

I have 5 lavender EE, 6 Prairie Bluebell Eggers, and five or six Sapphire Gems. The Gems lay brown. Thhe Bluebells lay clear blue. The lavs lay varied, some blue, some greenish.

I ordered six each of black Ameraucana pullets and Dominique pullets, and one black Ameraucana cockerel.

3 today. I got my first ever blue egg!! I've always wanted a hen that lays blue eggs and I thought I didn't have one but one of my pullets started laying later than usual and surprised me wit ha pretty blue egg! it's so small too!

These are eggs with smuts that I keep, instead of giving away.
The second pic is after washing with some oven mitts that I picked up at the Dollar Tree, for comparison. I probably see them as blue, because that's what I was expecting when we bought the chicks. *sigh* if you get real Ameraucanas, please share where they came from. I know that might be a while from now, but we won't be in the market for a while, so it will be worth waiting.

I have a couple pullets here I don’t know if they are gems or not. They lay brown eggs, sweet wee birds.

2 eggs yesterday

This morning my young hen refuses to go out of the nest box after she lays her egg, but she keeps on screaming for so long....what is the deal with her?

I put her inside the store room so she can scream to the cow comes home without upsetting the neighbours. She has a mighty loud voice.

Did you get your gems from Hoovers?

I believe I did get my Gems from Hoover's but they do not have crests. I ordered my Ameraucanas from Cackle, I understand they are the only hatchery that has actual Ameraucanas, not EEs. That's why I got a rooster to go with them. He's going to replace my Rojo, so he'd better be a good boy! I trust my OG gals to bring him up right! But I love my Eggers!
