How to deter a mountain lion

All of my neighbors have livestock, we're a farming community. We all got together today and discussed it, and it seems one old timer knows a friend of a friend who can come trap it....
Idk, I'd just as soon put up the hot wire in the mean time.
Sounds good!
Best of Luck.....scarier than bears.

More than two strands, very hot, and bait it!
Mary
Definitely!

You might consider outdoor motion sensed burglar alarms, that will have a loud sound and have motion lights come on. Set the lights at about 3 ft above ground at the cat's eye level to startle it.
It will be a nuisance for a while but may send her in a less noisy direction.
Death of any animal should be in dire cases of attack. And only if you are proficient with firearms.

Not me(you may have quoted my post by accident)...
...no bears or mountain loins here.
Tho we've had both as lone males passing thru.

I have ofen wondered if anyone has used the motion lights with a siren.

No one has sighted the mountain lion since about the 13'th, so I'm hopeful that it has moved on. :yesss:
But I do have a hot wire running around my chicken run now... in case it ever comes back. :)
Do you have a meter to test the voltage. If it's not at least around 7000 volts, it may not work well. Some predators may tangle with wire even thought it might tingle. I had something go through some electric wires once. My charger was faulty and was only putting out around 2000 volts. The wires next to the gate were knocked over and the gate opened by force. It normally opens out but when I discovered it the gate was pushed in. I didn't get a picture because it was extremely foggy that night, of course. What unluck. I have since replaced the fence charger and now it puts out around 9500 volts.
