How to get rid of lice eggs on chicken?

On closer examination she definitely has little lice crawling around and a few eggs around her vent as well. We are going to get some de-lousing dust today or tomorrow. The other chicken also has a few, but not as many. We should clean out their coop really well I imagine? And how exactly does one dust a chicken?
Also, I read that putting petroleum jelly on the lice eggs can stop them from hatching so I did that last night. It was all I could do at the moment. Does that actually help?
You catch them, than hold both feet in one hand and the chicken rests it's chest on the ground or an elevated surface. Than sprinkle the dust all over the chicken like your putting salt and pepper on it. Use your hand to rub it in all around the bird before releasing.

I prefer the dust as a spray will leave you with a wet chicken. The dust will leave the bird dry which is bad on external parasites.

I would clean the coop, dust all nestboxes under the bedding and sprinkle any roost cracks.

Just dusted them lightly with Permethrin and the coop as well. Planning on doing a thorough deep cleaning and dusting of the coop tomorrow. Might have been a little light on the dust but I'll check over the next couple of days and do it again if needed.
