how to locate a poultry processor in Ohio

Thanks for the info.  I'll probably go to Tewes in Erlanger.  It's about the same distance, maybe a little closer.  They said they can do 12-15 birds while I wait.

Does tewes process for the public and do you know their prices ?

Vallen where are you located, I'm in West Salem and use Spring Maple Enterprise they are in Shiloh ane do a good job for a resonable price. If you want phone number and address let me know. I stopped processing my own birds once i found them.

We have Used King & Sons for 5+ years now and have taken 2 batches of 100 birds to them this year (2014). There have been multiple problems with each batch and I would NOT recommend them. Mrs. King promised me a call back after she would supposedly check into these issues. I never heard back from her. We will use Huismanns from now on.

You should definitely try J&J Poultry Processing in Holgate! A father and son own and operate it and do a very good job. I go there every time and would not consider going anywhere else. They are both very knowledgeable and the staff they have is great, too! It is extremely clean and they talk about how they pride themselves on that. You MUST call ahead for an appointment but they make sure to find something convenient for you and them. I call the day I get chicks and then I know I have a good appointment time! I talk to other folks in there that drive past processors just to come back. It is a really good experience. The phone number to call is (419) 439-5331. AND, if you have any questions about how to raise chickens call John at that number and ask. He really knows his stuff.

Do you know if they process ducks at Huismans? I'm about 15 minutes from Harrison. We haven't been able to find anyone willing to process ducks.

I know this is an old thread, but it seems a lot of the local processors mentioned above are either closed or not close.

This is our first year raising meat birds (Red Rangers on pasture, Salatin-style) and we are looking for some local options for processing. We are located central to Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus. I have information on Johnson Poultry Farms and King and Sons. Would be interested in additional feedback on the two (Johnson is closer) and would like info on any other in the area as well. This first batch will be around 30 birds but looking to do additional batches if it works out.

Thanks for any help.

I agree about what your experience w/King & Sons was. When we took our birds in, 50 birds mind you, at that time they claimed to be short handed & b/c of that they couldn't give me my giblets or feet, but they had time to remove those items during the processing & throw them in a garbage bucket...but yet I couldn't have them. Also, on their website it said you must have a minimum of 50 birds to have them cut them up. Well, they couldn't even do that b/c of manpower.
I wouldn't have gotten that many birds to begin with if they had just updated the website!
Lesson learned... I'll NEVER do business with King & Sons!
