I have american gamefowl but up until a week ago I had a buck eye rooster that was the dominant male and he's the one that did his business with the hens..now he's gone a neighbor bought him but I want my game male to give pure game chicks..but I read on an internet article that a hen stores male sperm for like a week and those eggs will be mixed..if the hens don't pay attention to the game male can I seperate them to a pen all by theselfs and if I do about how long do I wait till for sure the chicks will be pure game.? Do I just remove the ones they lay now cause the might be mixed with the buckeye? Anyhelp greatly apreciated..

Your hens can store sperm from the Buckeye rooster for up to 3 weeks. Some studies indicate that they may even store sperm for up to a month. If you start saving and incubating after 2 weeks chances are that most will be sired by the game rooster although there may also be mixed chicks.

I had a similar issue with a RIR male with my Welsummer hens. I waited four weeks and hatched eggs in the incubator. I still got a RIR looking cockerel. couldn't tell with the pullets. So I would wait at least a month.
