how to tell if 7 week old chicks are roosters

My lab mix is jealous of my chicks. She's interested, but I don't think she'll chase them. They're still in the house for now, though I have a little coop built… My Cochins just don't seem t be feathered out well enough to go outside yet.

Can anyone tell me why one of my chicken lays soft eggs and I mean they just have a thick membrane over the egg. I have added shell grit to there food. So thats not the problem. They all eat the same. Any one know.

I wouldn't mix the oyster shell into their food, I would provide a separate bowl for your hens to eat as much as they like.
Have they just started laying?

mine are almost 7 weeks in 2 days neither of them have big combs and they are showing no signs any red color still very light looking at my other hens these chicks have the same tail shape wing feathers are rounded their wattles are not starting at all to show they are quite shy startle easily wherever mama is chicks are never far away they don’t attempt to venture out alone we have had a lot of rain and they haven’t been outside today the weather is better and the ground isn’t as wet
