Hurricane season 2024

Everybody needs to realize too that evenhough it a cat whatever that's only within a few miles of the eye, it's not like it's 140mph 80 miles wide. And then when it makes landfall it weakens quick. Chill folks don't freak. We don't need to be freaking out the people that are in the path they need to stay level headed. Panic is not good!

I mean hurricanes are not to be taken lightly, even tropical storm force winds can create lots if damage and surge.

Any elevation that starts with a minus isn’t good ☹️
Yeah I'm literally one block away from not being able to afford home owners insurance even if they would carry me at all. I'm right next to a giant federal preserve that's mostly marsh. When I got my land appraised it came with the flood plain and I was shocked

The dude on the video just said that the worst of the storm surge it's probably going to be around the Port Charlotte area and Tampa's going to be spared.
I have no idea if this man knows what he's talking about or not, but I'm guessing he might have a way better clue than I do.

The elevation at my house is 32 ft.
Keeks, I thought you were in TX.

No one is trying to freak anyone out, everyone is simply sharing information on on the situation at hand, and the updates they have seen. This is a situation in which everyone needs to be aware of what is happening. Nobody has said anything wrong.

I'm not sure but I know when they hype up storm surge issues when we get hurricanes here I don't have to worry about it but I'm 30 miles away from the coast.
Again, I'm not sure, but I think unless you're right along the coast like a mile or two then storm surge may not be an issue. I'm not sure how that works though.
If your at a bay or channel surge is still going to be bad for you. My aunt stayed in Houston for Alicia and she said it was crazy. But Alicia went up the ship channel so the surge hit farther in than if it had hit on the islands.

Birds in the eye of Milton. It must be a fun time for them, like a fun park ride?

I'm wondering (just for my own knowledge) why the Gov'ner of FL ddn't turn all the southbound lanes of Alligator Alley into northbound lanes to alleviate some of the traffic getting out? I see vid's on the Weather Channel of bumper-to-bumper traffic going north and the southbound lanes empty. And ppl just sitting for hours and prob will never get out.
