Hurricane season 2024

I'm putting this here now. It is the OFFICIAL FEMA response page for Milton. As they start marshalling assistance resources, this page will be updated with information on how to get assistance. You will see a LOT of misinformation in the coming days if the media circus around Helene was any gauge. Some of it is accidental, some will be deliberate.

This is the official source of truth straight from FEMA.

I will update with more resources for Milton as they become available, this is still early days for response.

To compare, here's the Helen response page and the links for assistance from that (if you need them ).

The milton page will have similar info as soon as they can get thigs moving.
:goodpost: Everyone should know what resources are available.

Hi everyone! We lost power around 10:15 last night but it came back this morning about 7:00 AM. The only damage we had was a few branches down, only minor flooding on some areas of our property Ankle deep at its deepest and none that damaged anything. Very minimal damage in our area, praise the Lord 🙏❤️
Yes! Praise the Lord! Glad to know y'all are ok!

FEMA=truth. Is funny to me
Having been on both sides of FEMA, there may be a misunderstanding on what FEMA does. (This isn't to make excuses for anyone.)
I believe if I understand correctly they fund and coordinate relief efforts. Not do the actual search and rescue.
(However if they can't provide help because they are underfunded, short staffed or distracted, they need to get out of the way. IMHO.)
I know this is a touchy subject on both sides but we may be able to find out what the potential and limitations are. 🙏

We've been without power since 7:30 last night. A hot shower sounds really nice, but no hot water of course. No ETA on power restoration. A lot of tree damage but we are all ok - severely stressed but unharmed. We put our girls back out this morning to forage and due to the high winds still in our area, they were freaked out so I put them back in their run - they were relieved to be back there after two nights in jail in our house. They are looking better now but there is a huge tree, approximately 90 feet tall, leaning right over them, the roots are ripping out of the ground on the east side and the west side is right over their run and coop, literally. If it falls, all under neath gets crushed. We were just out there and it is creaking badly. As if there is not enough to worry about. Do you know how hard it's going to be to get a tree service to cut this down anytime soon? Not going to happen. So, it's fingers crossed by the Grace of God that it doesn't fall on our girls or a dog. I will be devastated. This wind needs to stop. I am grateful we are all ok but geez - these things are so stressful. 🤪 😧
