I decided to let my broody sit on some eggs

Lovely girl!!! The only other thing that I would suggest is that you could incubate more eggs simultaneously.

This would help you to check fertility better, and it would hopefully ensure that if some of her chicks don’t hatch, you don’t end up with a singleton. Or if she gets off the nest or is an unsuccessful broody but you add her eggs to the incubator, then you will have more chicks to be buddies and not end up with any lonely single chicks.

Also if you end up hatching some out of the incubator, you can slip them under mama and she can raise them if you don’t want to brood chicks yourself.

Just a suggestion but if you don’t want to, that is completely fine as well. Im excited to see what happens!!!

Is this your boy that has cuckoo paint markings (at least on one side?) He is just the coolest!! Can’t wait to see his babies!
I would like to put some more eggs in but I need my slacker hens to lay some… unfortunately the broody hen is my best layer

I would like to hatch at least 2

This is the cuckoo/white/paint/silked boy, I can’t wait to see what he creates!

Day 2 and three, broody going strong, I felt them and they are very warm, and broody is rolling the eggs because they are in different spots when I go to check on her

A broody doesn’t need company.
Yeah true but Boris needs a place to stay, being around other cockerels stresses him out
I’ll remove him from the cage on lockdown
He was extra friendly this morning

Day 5, one egg wasn’t fertile but the other two are doing great! Lots of veining and eggs getting darker already

Some photos,
Egg 1 & 2
Egg 1 I can’t really see clear veins or they’re tricky to see but seems to be developing
Egg 2 has clear veins and maybe an eye?
