I volunteered to host the womens Christmas party at church this year. I am wanting to have an old fashioned Christmas theme for it.
I would like to have any suggestions or any information on what took place at Christmas parties or games that were played say 100-150 years ago. If you don't know of any but do know of some fun games to suggest PLEASE do. I am so excited and want everyone to have a good time, we always laugh so much at our womens parties, and games that are fun , or ones that you have to partner up for are so much fun we can barely complete the game task because we are laughing so hard ... seriously hold the tinkle and run to bathroom before you go on yourself laughing.

Candle-lighted rooms will be decorated with evergreens, and the dining room set with china, crystal and silver. Visitors will be served hot mulled cider and will hear music by the Northern Dutchess Brass Ensemble and the Columbia Woodwind Quintet.

Oh my goodness y'all ......

, keep em' coming , I was already thinking of dressing up old timey for the hosting, but I strongly doubt that I could get everyone to do it

. I will be setting up lit unscented (some w/h allergies) candles, but I will still have to use some lighting because we have a few elderly who can't see real well in low lights. Oh I can't wait. So much to do.

I like the idea of decorating a tree. Pop some popcorn and bring cranberries so y'all can string those. Bring paper and supplies for people to make ornaments to decorate the tree with. Invite people to bring found decorations like bird nests. Turn off the lights and have someone read the Biblical nativity story and Moore's The Night Before Christmas aloud.

I was going to say stringing popcorn and cranberries too. No one around here really does that anymore. They also did stockings that had fruit, candy canes, nuts, etc in them. Maybe you could pick up some cheap stockings at the dollar tree and give one to everyone who comes as a party favor? I don't know how many people are coming to the party, but if it was a small group you could even put their names on the stocking in glitter like we do at home.
