If a person cannot spell, would you still sell birds to them??

I am embarrassed to say that I did not reply to people who could not bother to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation when I was selling my puppies. There were too many people replying, so I could afford to be picky. In my opinion, spell check is your friend. If you don't spell check, it makes me feel disrespected. My father drilled proper spelling/grammar into me at a very young age. I think it is VERY important, but I probably would be less inclined to deny a sale if I wasn't getting alot of replies

If your that worried about their spelling, get a phone number and talk to them in person. Its hard to figure out what someone is trying to convey in their message when its in print. Something I think sounds reasonable may sound pushy or mean to another. I think that's whats happened to this thread as well. The OP asked a question and because of how it was stated, it offended some people. I don't think that was the OPs intention, but it proves my point. Wording or spellinga something the wrong way can give it a meaning completely different that what was intended. I don't like to read a bunch of "text talk" mostly because it confuses the heck out of me. So when I sell or buy something on craigslist, I talk to someone on the telephone so we can make sure everything is understood. Maybe his brother keeps a flock of banties for 4-H. Or maybe you'll confirm your suspicions and he'll be a complete sleeze ball. I've met some really great folks through craigslist dealings, and I've met a few on the other side of the fence. Good luck with your roo!

I agree that if the issue was questioning his dedication based on his loose text speach as opposed to judging intelligence based on spelling this would be a whole different thread.

I agree-I cant spell because I have a learning disability but Im not dumb. Would you not give a bird to a blind person because he can not see? or a deaf person because he can not hear? Sad world that we judge-People need to look deep at them self and see what issues they have. To bad.

Why would it make sense? I have a legally blind/deaf child that knows how to take care of our chickens. Plus he is developmentally delayed too, so I guess he is not capable of doing anything a "normal" person would, huh?

The ignorance of some people amaze me......

I think people who are really bothered by spelling errors and put good spellers on a pedestal and bad spellers on a lower level are just a different personality type. Its just sad how elitist these conversations can come off but yes, my theory is that it's just persinanity type.

No spelling would not make me question ones chicken care abilities LOL In my opinion its a little immature to take that much interest in how someone spells hahaha but hey Im not that type of person. I dont stereotype or look down on ppl for their dress attire, speech, political views etc. to me thats ignorance at its finest. That person could be intelligent just doesnt think someone would care about his spelling. They thought Einstein was crazy
