Illinois...

Where are you at? I'm New Lenox. Less than 2 miles from I 355
I harvest mine by removing the head . But yes it's traumatic if they are your pets. I have to do it at sunrise before I let mine out. It's traumatic from them too. But they are fine after the death throws are done.
If you can't find anyone, I can do it but I can't drive far due to blood pressure dropping.
I assume you want to bury, don't want me to eat. Or I can clean if you want to eat but I doubt you want to do that.
I can put in my garbage if you just want to get rid of the body.

I'm in Tinley Park and would absolutely bring them to you if you could do it. I don't need them processed for meat but I don't mind if you want the meat. The injured one probably isn't safe to eat and she's a scrappy old lady with nothing on her. The bully is pretty big and if you wanted the meat, I bet she's got a good amount on her. I can't bury them because my dogs will dig them up so I am happy if she will go to good use in your freezer. If you are serious, I will absolutely take you up on it and appreciate it like crazy!

I sent a PM I'm near 80 too, but it's a nightmare. You could come down Laporte rd at RT 45.

Nasty fox visited this morning. I think they watch until I get out of the poultry yard.

I just came in the house 7am, took off my raincoat looked out the window and seen a poof of white feathers. Ran out and chased it off in 3 different sections of my poultry yard after different chickens each time.
Hen was able to run into the coop and cuddle up next to broody turkey. Later she was up on the roost looking bloody on back but alert. And definitely doesn't want me to touch her. Which is the trouble with not handling, they are semi feral.

I'm glad she got away but poor thing! Who knew that a broody turkey would be cuddly!
The turkey is a good mama. She in the past has taken any poults or chicks close to size of hers. any other would have added to the injury.
chicken went out, ate , drank and back to good mama. She was walking around ok. Now if the boys leave her alone.
She had been up against the turkeys head and now she's by the tail. I have since sprayed some anti bacterial and fungal wound I had around. she was not appreciative lol

Why is it that they never believe us when we are trying to do something in their best interests? Such suspicious little things. LOL!

How is your hen doing today?? :hugs
She went into a crate I use as a nestbox last night on her own last night. So I have kept her in there. She has drank but not eaten anything as of an hour ago. She looks alert and is content to stay in there.
The girls that normally use that crate are complaining.

@Molpet
Today is technically hatch day.
100% turkeys hatched - again! 2 of the 12 have sore navels so hopefully they will be fine
I set 6 of your "meat mutt" eggs. 5 hatched. There's one still in the incubator. No pip but I saw it's little beak is working away inside the air cell when I candled.
I also hatched 4 seramas and 4 silkies from my own eggs.
Pics will come....

I have a loud brooder & one very happy frizzled bantam Cochin. (She was literally sitting on rocks for over a month) I'll put her in a broody cage inside the run in 5-6 days. For now they're house chickens/poults.
