I'm so old I Remember when:

I have chickens, have had a rooster, and will again. We built a chicken coop, garden shed, and a green house, and they are where they work for me. I have a clothesline and use it whenever the temperature and weather allow. I have guns and target practice on my property.

Yippee.

Nobody plows our driveway, that's up to us. FedEx and UPS hate coming to my house, and sometimes just plain won't, no matter the weather/road condition. If the power goes out, we are waaaaay down the priority list to get it restored. If our well or pump have issues, it's our expense to fix it. Internet is better than it was, but is nowhere near as strong or reliable as in the city. If there's an emergency, it could take 30 minutes for someone to get out here to help.

That's the trade off.

I accept that, have accepted it for 30 years, and will continue to live here until they take me out horizontally.

Sound just about right to me.
