I'm so old I Remember when:

I use New Skin on the crack (OW! Stings!) and then cover it with a band aid. It takes awhile, but the New Skin covers the break down in the crack. It doesn't stick the broken edges back together, so I need the band aid to protect the area.
If you "paint" the area with New Skin on a regular basis, it may help prevent it from cracking.

My father's hands cracked badly when he was older. I think he used Bag Balm on them.

I have an issue with my right thumb cracking open at the end. I thought it was from handing a lot of paper in my job, in the winter, drying out my skin. It's still happening now that I'm retired.

❤️ Still need bandage in some cases. The bandage does stick the broken skin together.
My hands and fingers get cut and bleed from those thorn of my lemon tree, dragon fruit plants, or cut from my chickens sharp nails 😄

The second from the top I took with my phone like all the rest but came out really cool looking.i had poster burner on the internet to make a small poster size print of it so I can frame and put in my dining or living room.
Any one of those would make a very enjoyable 1000 piece puzzle. 🧩
