If you "paint" the area with New Skin on a regular basis, it may help prevent it from cracking.I use New Skin on the crack (OW! Stings!) and then cover it with a band aid. It takes awhile, but the New Skin covers the break down in the crack. It doesn't stick the broken edges back together, so I need the band aid to protect the area.
I have an issue with my right thumb cracking open at the end. I thought it was from handing a lot of paper in my job, in the winter, drying out my skin. It's still happening now that I'm retired.

The second from the top I took with my phone like all the rest but came out really cool looking.i had poster burner on the internet to make a small poster size print of it so I can frame and put in my dining or living room.
