Finally, my friend said, "It's a knick knack, Patty Black! Give the Frog a loan!"

Why is it we can still call the French frogs but other groups' nicknames are now verboten? I def remember my friends (Irish, Italian, Polish, Black, Native, etc) and I growing up telling all kinds of ethnic jokes. No one got offended. Don Rickles would be in serious trouble nowadays.
We probably should treat this as a rhetorical question for a couple of reasons but it's something to think about.
