Very weird to put a native American ( or Indian in those days) on the TV screen when there was no broadcast. We didn’t have anything like that.

Im so old I remember my grandparents didn’t have a flush toilet, but an incredible deep hole in the ground under the toilet seat. They used old newspapers to wipe the dirt of, if they were short of money.

I remember when my grandparents only had an outdoor toilet (I mean in a shed rather than in the house). I don’t remember if it flushed. I think it did as they were in a city and that sewer system well pre-dates me!
I do remember the excitement when they got their first indoor toilet.
