I'm so old I Remember when:

I used to make mashed potatoes from scratch, too.
I do make these from scratch too. Last summer I even grew my own potatoes.
Did you know the natives of South American tribes - I think it may have been the people in Chile but don't quote me - invented the process of making mashed potato flakes, stomping the liquid out of them and freeze-drying them for off-season use?
I am thankful they got the process started. Someone out there needs some potato flakes. :)

Me...I ain't stompin' no taters!
I do bake my own bread and have made my own butter and yogurt.
Oh, well....you got me on this although I have made butter and bread in the past. I don't do it regularly.
Age and pain are making these a little more difficult, however. One does what one can.
I share this with you. Back pain, arthritis? I just try to pace myself through the day. If it get too bad I stop. Retired.

Wow! The chickens confiscated our garden. All we can grow out there now are irises lilies. They fertilize and cultivate them, but don't eat them.

Me needer! :lau

No judgment! I just love the taste and texture of my own bread, that's all. Store bread ... tastes like paste to me. :sick

Mostly leg pain. Hip, knee, ankle, feet. Arthritis, fibro. But if I can stand, I'm usually at the stove, lol.

Yer prob'bly rite. I should jest up 'n' move to a bit of land. Trouble is, if I move, I'm movin' state and I c'aint decide if'n I wanna be near the grandkids or the brother more Or I could move to the place I've always thought about since I were little.

I'm so old I remember when the teachers read story books to us in early grade school that always ended in "And the lived happily ever after".
A lot of the "class reading" they do in school now is scary. Have you read "Bridge to Terabithia" (fifth grade) or "The Red Kayak" (middle school?) Both are excellent books - and well worth reading independently - but as required reading and in-depth study? I'm not so sure that's such a good idea. There have GOT to better ways to teach today's kids about social woes and empathy!

SPOILER ALERT:

The first involves two kids living in a wonderful, make-believe world because they don't fit into the real one ... until the adventures cost a life. The other involves grade-school boys whose prank goes horribly wrong and a three-year-old dies. My Mom thought the fight scenes and animal beatings of White Fang were horrible. She'd have an absolute cow over some of today's required reading choices!

You are doing excellent! I'm sure I would not do half as well.

Thankfully you are not able to hear all the different accents people here in the US have. It would probably make it more confusing.
I come across different accents on TV sometimes. Have visited and listened to people with different accents in London /South of England, different provinces in France, etc. And we have lots of dialects in my country too. Accents snd dialects are probably everywhere with established communities. Languages evolve.
