It was more resistant than glass or ceramic because it's made like safety glass. Having said that, when it breaks, it's hundreds of shards.

I remember when
if you broke a plate
All you had to do was glue it back together

If you broke unbreakable Corning ware
You now had a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle that you swept up and threw away
 
Oh, yes! During summer vacation, our moms gave us money to get them cigarettes out of the bowling alley vending machine while they were bowling with their league... [Juke box playing "Love Child", "Don't Sleep In The Subway Darling", "Baby Love", etc.] We each knew our mothers' brands...

I remember in

1980 when I was working at the drug store
Cigarettes were forty-five cents a pack plus tax
1993 working same drug store $5.25 plus tax

Candy bars were a quarter
