Well I've been in love with German Shepherds since I was about 14. I owned one when I was 17. He was a great dog and his sires parents where imported from Germany. Back in the day I could just about read those huge pedigrees from germany. And I've still got a bunch of German Shepherd books.. Anyhow that was a long time ago and I want a full import someday from West german lines. I still spend to much time on the net reading and wishing for one!
I have a promise with myself that I'm waiting for a dog till my kids are older. So its going to be years before I get one.
Please post pictures of your imported or import descendant german shepherds and I'd love to hear storys about them! Schutzhund stories, training stories, fun stories and where you got your dog... anything!

My parents had a GSD whose father was from Germany and I believe the mother was also from German lines. He was very smart and beautiful. He was so protective of me. One evening when we were all at my parents' for dinner, my oldest son----then 8 was throwing a fit and kind of yelling at me. Rommel (the GSD) was standing behind my son (who was facing me) and I guess Rommel thought my son was a threat to me, because he grabbed my son on the butt! Didn't do any damage, but sure made my son think twice about throwing any more fits at Grandma and Grandpa's!

I wish I had pics. of Rommel I could post on here-----maybe I'll have my sister scan some photos so I can download them.

why wait until the kids are older? GSDs are great with kids. Yes, even the Schutzhund dogs

He has 2 legs towards his Rally Novice A title. We are also planning to dabble in conformation. Then obedience is
Here is a copy of his pedigree - http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=708834

His
bloodlines are from the Policia kennels, the breeder of the border patrol/police dogs for the Slovak Republic.

Both my boys are excellent with kids. They are super protective of their family, but know the difference between a "stranger" and a threat.

The sire and dam of my 2 GDS were imported from Germany in 2007. Here are links to their pedigrees Chance & Abby which can be traced all the way back to the late 1800's and V Horand von Grafrath which is considered to be the "Original German Shepherd Dog" as described by Captain von Stephanitz ~ Originator of the breed

Abby is a solid black and Chance is a bi-color. They are very high energy dogs that need to have a job to do. Playing ball is their favorite thing to do and they are rarely without one. Mine are wonderful with children too.

Oh my such beautiful dogs! I guess I'm waiting because I home school and that takes all my time. I had golden retrievers when I got married and had to sell them all. Also my husband didn't want me so into dog training after we got married. When I own a dog its not just a pet. I loved to train and show when I was younger I did AKC comformation and I did obedience and agility. Anyhow I think my kids need all my concentration till they are older. Then I'll be able to pursue my german shepherd dream!
