That's a bit of a drive, probably too much unfortunatelyHello! New Hoosier here. We live in Lawrenceburg IN with our flock of BBS English orpingtons and BBS Silkies! We have Orpington hatching eggs available! View attachment 3751596
I wish. Out of 10 chicks I got all hens. I'm looking for unvaxxed blue Australorp roosters to start making chicks. Or I might just buy some eggs and let a hen try hatching them.Been a while for this threads activity, but anyone near West Central IN have Black or blue Australorp hatching eggs??? Even with all the FB groups I've hardly seen Australorps, even though our tsc always carried black AustralorpI wish. Out of 10 chicks I got all hens. I'm looking for unvaxxed blue Australorp roosters to start making chicks. Or I might just buy some eggs and let a hen try hatching them.
Weird because they are so great! I've seen foxes look then just walk away. Cats walk through the Australorps kinda scared at those big birds. They are so large they look like a fight for a raccoon so not much messes with them.Even with all the FB groups I've hardly seen Australorps, even though our tsc always carried black Australorp
Sorry to hear. Why are/did you de-flocking?I need to rehome my flock. We live in West Indianapolis, between Avon and Speedway.
I'm sure cross-posting is discouraged, but I need to move these birds so I'm going to risk the ire of the community. This is up in the rehoming thread as well.
I have:
3 years old:
1 Columbian Wyandotte
1 Saphire Gem
1 Americauna
1 Lavender Orpington
2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes
1 Midnight Marans
2 years old:
2 Black Austrolorps
3 Cinnamon Queens
4 California Whites
They are all hens. Out of the 16 birds I get about 8 eggs /day. I suspect that the younger hens are doing most of they laying, but I don't track them so I don't really know.
I'm fine with splitting them up if anyone wants just a few of these birds. They are all healthy and in good condition. They are not friendly like pets, but none of them are particularly bad tempered either. The Austrolorps tend to go broody now and then. I think that's all I know. Pics available on request if you're really interested, but they are all very typical of their breeds.
Hi, Pipid-I’ve been looking locally for naked necks and found a lady who breeds showgirls and silkies.Welcome! It has been pretty quiet here for some years now. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone in your area with Australorps, but good luck in your search!
Welcome to you, too!Lovely birds! I need your Orps to give my Cochins a pep talk or something--I'm still waiting on mine to get to laying for the year!!
