happy easter to you all my dear friends ,
chooks man here ,my new account .
I know I started a new one last week from my phone but forgot the password ,
now I m working from my old lap top I worked it out .i ll be using this account because it s set and saved in my lap top.

Lost her to the Dog with 15 chicks new year day was a saddest day in my life .,lucky me I bred her in 2023 with 2 different rooster ,so I have her progeny 7 hens ( 2 solid black , 1 BC , 1 BLC and 3 splash ) and 5 roosters 2 BC ,2 Splash and 1 Dom White ). life goes on my friend,

@ozmarans is is better for a hen to have a gradual sweep up to the tail, with the cushion rising with it like in Darkmoon, Ninmah and Raziana’s Angel or a flat back suddenly changing to 45 degrees tail like in Black and Aasipha Angel?
If that makes sense.

some time when they are not relaxed they make a bad photo.

I thought this would be the case, I know we love the long, flat backs in marans. It’s just I know other breeds ask for a concave sweep from the cushion.

Mine have the flat backs but still need their tails lowered, and the cocks need smaller tails.

I’ll attach some photos of mine later because it’s odd how tail angle has changed in mine through the generation.

High tail has a high degree of inheritance to solve that we needto introduce bird with a low tail . tail genes are Autossomal can be passed down from both parents .
I found a hen with a small pointy low tail will give cockerels with a very nice tails .
I have a hen Matanushka a BLC she has a good tail but doesn t matter with witch rooster she is matted to she will give cockerel s with high tail ( majority of them ) I tested her with different rooster ,all her son look a like , so I think there is some sex linked genes in there not understood yet , just my observation
