I am in northern Nevada and finally have a place where I can have chickens of my own.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to owning chickens but have been part of raising chickens in some capacity for 60+ years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I received 24 chicks in the mail today (June 28, 2023).
(3) What breeds do you have?
I ordered White Leghorn, Australorp, Welsummer, Whiting True Green and Whiting True Blue pullets.
I ordered Whiting True Blue roosters. I think I have a Welsummer (straight run) and Polish (free surprise) rooster as well.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
TBD but likely having colored eggs to sell.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Bees, wood working, and many outdoor activities.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a (soon to be) retired federal economist and planner. I have interest in developing a data base of production information. My pup is fascinated watching the new chicks.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Seems like I have always known BYC, but new chicks motivated me to join to learn from others.
