Hi! Im new to raising chickens. I noticed today that my easter egger appears to have longer saddle feathers than my other 5 chicks (mix of breeds) and the feathers are longer and pointer than my other chicks. I believe this egger is crossed with a faverolles because it has five toes on each foot and salmon coloring. I love this bird--so friendly! But unfortunately we cant have roosters. Thank you for your seasoned opinions!

Cute! I'm not worried about the saddle feathers. Those are rounded and the pointy/shiny male saddle feathers usually don't appear until they're a little older.

The comb and coloring look female to me. However, in the picture with the Dumor bag in the background, it looks like the hackle feathers are pointed but that might also be pattern on the feathers. Sometimes EEs will have patterns that make the feathers appear pointed but when you look closer, the feather itself is round.

Don't worry, that's definitely a female. She has a female specific color pattern. And those feathers are rounded.

The light shaft and paler edges give the illusion of pointiness, same thing with the pattern on her hackle feathers.

Thank you all so much! I'm very relieved. And I learned so much from this post. Grateful to now have this community!
