when should i interfere with them being outside? my general rule is that if it’s 20 degrees or lower with lots of wind, they stay in their coop. and when i do let them out, should i bring them into the coop if they get all fluffed up sitting in the corner? their combs aren’t big— only the roosters comb is big and his comb has been getting cold. i want my chickens to be able to play outside and be safe from the cold.If it's windy, they will find places out of the wind, if that means staying inside the coop, that's what they will do.
I don't add heat to my coop, I do put up wind blocking (plastic) on the run so they will be more comfortable moving about outside within the run.
