Is Scratch and Peck feed worth the cost?

I start my chicks on Purina, then move them to Scratch & Peck grower, with oyster shell on the side. I do not ferment, but I do moisten the feed. They're fed 3 times a day, usually, so it's small batches. (The feed gets a bit hard as it dries.) The last feed I feed dry, and use whatever's left for the next day's first feed. I have very little waste. They seem to do well on it.

By the way, their grubs are only half-dried, so they're not crunchy. My girls love them.

Here Scratch and Peck isn't available. I do feed my chicks the Purina medicated crumbles. When they reach around 3 or 4 months old I switch them over to Nutrena All Flock pellets but I have a lot of birds so I buy my feed in bulk. I go through around a half ton of feed a month. Good luck...

We were initially using local stores feed that we purchased in bulk but my wife switched it over to Scratch and Peck and we haven’t looked back since. Our chickens lay almost 5x the amount of eggs and we have lesser health issues since switching over.
