My friend went through Billings, MT and stopped at the Tractor Supply store there. This 1 gallon drinker is perfect.....I am so happy!!

A big thank you to BearSwampChick....your offer was better service than I received with any of my local or online inquiries.....cheers to you!

Blooo.....you may want to try getting to a Tractor Supply store. You're like me with small flock and really there is such a need for the 1 gallon drinkers! Good luck on your hunt.

I have one that I bought at Tractor Supply Company. I'll post tomorrow with the manufacturer's name, since I'm at work at the moment.

I have a chicken ark with only 4 hens. I don't need a 5 gallon, or even a 3 gallon, waterer as I change their water twice daily. Also, such a large waterer takes up their roaming ground space in the run area.

Their feeder is mounted on one end wall. I would like a hanging waterer so that the tractor stays mobile without me having to move the waterer separately. A hanging one also doesn't flatten the grass which I want the hens to enjoy.

I cannot locate a 1 gallon waterer that hangs!! I have read numerous complaints about the Little Giant 3 gallon plastic waterer, and I may end up with this one unfortunately. I see Little Giant makes a metal 2 gallon one. Is metal or plastic preferable for a waterer?

Thanks for any help.
I am using the Harris Farms 5 qt Poultry drinker which my Tractor Supply had in stock (but you can order it from several places). (1 gallon = 4 qts) I really like it. It is easy to take a part and clean. The size is nice as it doesn't take up a lot of room. It isn't obvious at first glance, but it is designed so that you can tip the carry/hanging handle to one side and set it down upside down to fill it. It is rugged and I love how easy it is to clean.

They are really inexpensive (under $7) so I got two. That way I can take one to the chicken tractor, clean and fresh and swap it, taking the used one back to the house for cleaning. It stays very clean hanging at crop height.

I was having problems with waterers that sit on the ground. My land is uneven and if the tractor is on a slope, the waterers would empty on the ground in minutes. Suspended by a chain between two caribiners, the problem is solved. Like you, I was having to remove the waterer in order to move the tractor. Now it can stay put, although I am sure some water will slosh out onto the ground now and then.

My 10 adolescent chickens drank about half today and it was pretty hot. This is more than they typically drink and I think it might be because the water stays clean. Yet another problem solved. I haven't found any down side to this waterer.
