Hi, I've been told this is a 1 week old welsummer pullet chick but it doesn't look like the welsummer images on Google. Can someone please confirm what breed and gender this chick is?

Thank you :)

I believe it is 7 days old. Does it look like a welsummer to you? I thought welsummers were autosexing at hatch based on eyeliner and the stripe down the back, though I'm not sure if this is correct? As this one has a stripe down the back but no eyeliner.

I agree that it isn’t a Welsummer. Where did you get the chick from? If it’s a pure breed, I’d guess it’s a Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock maybe?

Maybe a double laced silver Barnevelder. Too young to tell gender.
I definitely agree. That's the most likely option in terms of breeds that I can think of. The single comb eliminates a lot. Silver Campines would theoretically look similar too but they are incredibly rare and not stocked by any large hatchery that I know of

Hi all! I SO appreciate your insights. I'm based in Australia and got it from a place that hatches all sorts of breeds. I don't think they were hatching Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock or Double Laced silver Barnevelders at the time, though they do look quite similar.

I'll let it grow a bit more and maybe post some updated photos. I think they might have been hatching some crossbreeds/easter eggers at the same time though. Could it be a crossbreed - is it too early to tell which breeds it's crossed with?

Thank you
