Is this egg damage from another hen, or roo, pecking? Or something else?

I keep finding damaged eggs - is this from pecking? Can’t imagine it isn’t. Too perfect of a hole.

Welcome to BYC! :frow

I also think that's a toenail hole and have experienced them on occasion.
Thanks for the welcome! I can’t believe I never considered a toenail. Well, at least they’re not actively trying to peck at it then! I thought I was going to have to put someone in timeout.

I've had toenail damage on eggs too, but usually only on thinner shelled eggs.
That hole looks like it could be in a thin spot on shell.
Examine the shell closely.

It doesn’t seem thinner than normal? But they just started laying last month so I’m not sure what to expect. I’ll compare to other eggs today when I make breakfast.

Could be new layer curiosity peck or new layer nest arranging exuberance.
