Just for fun, I did see another post/pic on BYC of a Black Australorp Roo with a Buff Orpington hen and they had a white chick just like ours! As well as one black one too. So... it'll be fun to see what we've got! I've noticed a couple more prominent and darker combs already, soooo yeah lol I'm just hoping the black runt is a hen so we can keep her. I had to help her on hatch day and I'm glad I did. She's the cutest!

Your yellow chicks with the light black markings look very much like some silver laced wyandotte (roo) x buff orpington (hen) chicks that friends hatched. I'm not a genetics expert, but if I understand correctly, the silver/white base on the SLW is what's creating the light colored chicks, and the black coloring is incomplete lacing inherited from dad.

Your guess of BA/SLW on the darker chick is probably right, though it will be interesting to see how its color develops over time!

I'd say we have a couple roos... And two pullets yay! Lol

They look great!

You have a couple of little fellers in there. I especially like the little brownish colored one.

How do like my color and genetics speak? "Brownish" is about the best I can do 😂
Lol brownish works, she looked like a black Australorp chick on hatch day with the exception of a brown face(even had pale bottom lol we raised two batches of BAs last year)

And yup, 4 roos and 2 pullets looks like in the works lol
