Labeled as black star pullets, but looks like a cockerel.

I got four pullets at tractor supply and purchased black star to get all females even though I wanted more easter eggers (last pullets I got that weren't sex linked had a rooster.) They had black heads without any white, so I was pretty sure I was good to go. But all the sudden, one in particular, looks like a boy! It's the single one (and with the two birds together in front) that I question. And the one behind her/him is also making me a bit nervous. Anyone have experience with black star pullets looking like boys but still girls? They are a little over 10 weeks old.

Pullet
Black stars are sexlinked, so if that was a cockerel, it would be barred black and white, with a much larger comb and wattles.

Hmm.
These all have the pullet coloring. But why does it have red comb and wattles like a roo? This has me puzzled, because I've never seen breeding errors in hatchery stock. They are supposed to be careful about that. The only reason tis could happen, is if sex links are bred together....which does NOT produce more sex links.
I would keep an eye on this bird. Post pics of the saddle feathers at 12 weeks please...

Crazy for chickens, I'm puzzled too! My one theory is perhaps the feed store put a different breed in the bin than I thought. The wattles/comb is bright red, the sickle feathers and uneven. If they are indeed black stars, like ECSandCCFS said, she's got the right coloring. But I'm worried I've gotten duped. Will update in a few weeks.

TSC has gotten several people with their Asian Blacks this year, I'm not sure about all of them but it looks like you may have at least 2.

That's my fear. They had another bin of Asian blacks, but I wonder if they screwed me over and put the Asians in the black star bin. My friend got 12 asian black pullets and ended up with 8 roosters.

Yikes!!! She is not alone. Can you get pictures with better lighting? It would be easier to tell.

Any of these help? They were last week. The one I question the most is the brown chested/black head bird. Then there is a solid black one I wonder about a bit.

I think there is at least one Asian Black cockerel in there. I'm not sure about 2. I think the one with the brown on it's head may be a pullet. It should be easier to tell in 2-3 weeks if you want to repost.

Thanks, I'll update in a few weeks. From what I remember, the crowing should be happening by then if there is a cockerel.
