Hey Everyone! I just had a quick question regarding a couple of my chickens...and our turkey...
We started getting down to 23 degrees here at night in South Carolina, and a few of our birds are just NOW molting. Our turkey is nearly half nude and I can easily tell she is cold by the way she picks her feet up and shivers. I wanted to ask if 20-35 degree temps are OK for birds, and if I should add supplemental heat to the coop?
--Our coop is a highly ventilated design as we have some brutal summers....even adding a heat source probably won't trap the heat. --

People keep chickens in Canada...Molt tends to happen when daylight hours get shorter. It is not unusual for the temps to drop below freezing while chickens molting. Make sure your birds can get out of the wind in dry place. They will be fine.
