I had a Silver laced Orpington roo over a Lavendar hen and silver laced Orpington hens . My Roo died I tried hatching ten eggs of his. Only two hatched at different times! First one older for sure a silver laced is getting its feathers, second one looks like a Lavendar laced ? Is this possible ?

They are both gorgeous!

I bought silkie hatching eggs that are incubating right now, but the breeder told me to fill my order of two dozen buffs and lemon cuckoos, she went ahead and put some lavender in. So have been researching it and yikes that's so much more complex. I have laced as well and am trying to figure this out. I came upon a post about yours though. I think this post is more relevant to you than the original post.

I'll tag a couple folks I know that are way better at this stuff than I am and maybe they have some insight. @MysteryChicken @NatJ

Thanks unfortunately the photo of the chick is x out. Wish I could see it! I do not feel mine is a blue Orpington. Time will tell here is it’s early wing coloring.

Lavender lacing on a silver groundcolor is genetically possible, but I think your chick probably does not have it.

Crossing a Silver Laced Orpington with a solid Lavender Orpington would usually produce solid black chicks (possibly with a bit of silver leakage.)

To get a chick with lavender lacing, the Silver Laced parent would need to carry the recessive gene for lavender, AND the lavender parent would need a recessive gene that allows lacing instead of solid coloring. Each of those is unlikely, and having both is even less likely.

I think your chick is more likely to have blue lacing, rather than lavender lacing, but at this point I am not positive either way.

Can you post a picture of your hens? Sometimes that helps make things clearer.

My Silver laced Orpington Roo and my Lavendar hen and then the baby. The baby in back is a silver laced. Maybe other baby is just a poorly colored silver laced ?

Hmm. I don't know what to think.
Yes, there is a chance of it being a poorly-colored silver laced.

Whatever it is, hopefully it will become more obvious as it gets older.

Your Rooster is Blue Silver Laced.

Lavender is recessive, so the chick shouldn't be Lavender with the first generation. It needs two copies to express. So it's probably blue Silver Laced.
