My chicken has been acting kind of docile lately and yesterday we found her just sitting in the poop board so we took her out and she is having trouble standing up and keeping her balance even if she is sitting down. She keeps looking upward and closing her eyes. A lot of times just the left eye. I got her standing up this evening and she could hardly point her beak at the water dish and when she took a drink and tipped her head up she would fall over backwards. She did manage to take a few steps. She acts like she had a stroke. She is pooping but like water and very green and yellow. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

Can you get her drinking some water? Hold it right up to her beak in a little cup ir scoop. Dip her beak into it to get her started. Mix a small bowl of her usual chicken feed with a lot of water to make it mushy and offer that along with some scrambled soft egg. She could be dehydrated or hungry because of bullying or injury, or she could be sick. How old is she? Does she lay eggs normally? Have you seen any soft eggs recently? How does her crop feel—empty and flat, full, hard, doughy, or squishy/puffy? Any poop pictures are welcome, and it would be good to have one of her as well. Look her over for any lice or mites on her skin.

I did get her to drink but not eat. She normally lays eggs, but we were seeing some soft ones on occasion but I don't know which hen was laying them. Her crop feels empty but she has been pooping a lot. I will try to get a photo tomorrow. Some similar posts said she might be egg bound. I tried to feel back by her vent but it didn't seem hard like there was an egg there. She looks upward towards the sky a lot and closes her eyes. Thank you so much for the help. I'll have the wife look up how old she is tomorrow too. Also when she tries to drink she has a hard time putting her beak in the water straight. When she puts her head down to get a drink it veers off to the right every time.
