So every year I like to hatch a few eggs from crosses just to see the colors that come out. This year I have a Buff Toulouse gander that has been mating an Embden goose. I ran the calculator to see what could be the possible results and I noticed dilute, dilute blue, and lilac were the outcomes along with buff. They’re also sex link colors with the lilac and buff being female while Dilute/Dilute blue are males.

I’ve never seen a lilac or dilute / dilute blue gosling, does anyone have photos of these in the downy phase? Please post if you do!

Ah, thank you! Those are good photos. Im still curious about when they were in the downy phase after just hatching.
Since you have embden in the mix dilutes will be hard to pick out. Since embden also looks dilute. I did end up with a pied dilute gander last year but didn't know he was dilute until after full feather and had a diluted chest instead of white. Have not had a full dilute. Finally got to white last year and now have some of there babies. There is no embden white(blue) in my breeding's but do have some hatching eggs from a friend on day 14 will be fun to see what I get. He has 2 blue diluted ganders. this is one of my pied not sure you can see it but the beak is pied and his toes are you can also see his white strip chest in his down. look right in front of his wing. My diluted pied had no pattern.

Yea that’s what I was afraid of. I imagine the lilac will be just a lighter buff type of down. I did find a photo of a blue Sebastopol female in downy phase, so maybe I’ll be able to tell the regular blues.
