I have several silkies, and one has a strange issue that I cannot find specific information on. My Silkie hen is losing the barbs at the ends of her feathers, but the actual feather/shaft/rachis remains on the hen. So she now has “shaft/rachis strings” coming from the back of her tail with no fluffy barbs on them for about 2 inches from the ends. I can only find “feather loss,” or “losing feathers” when I research, but she is not losing her feathers - just pieces of them! Can someone please help me figure this out? There is only one Silkie that this is happening to.
