Spring on the way? Which direction did it take?

No kidding!
Reached a high of 33 here, now 32 & rapidly going downhill -- starting to rain -- more of that "frozen precip" on the way, no doubt. I just topped off all the bird feeders (wild and domestic). Birds were all snugged up in their coop.
At least my knee is better - starting to be able to bend it - I guess the "lube job" is working!

But if we're the "frozen tundra" in the morning, I am NOT getting out in it -- I'm staying in another day. Darn if I'm going to risk getting hurt like this again...learned my lesson there.

Ugh! School closings again for tomorrow. My kids are getting upset because they are cutting time off of lunch every day to make up for these extra days. I hope tomorrow is the last of it.

I keep seeing big flocks of water fowl flying north too. The days are getting longer and I guess these cold temps are not what they go by for their cues to go north. And I have spring flowers coming up. I bet all this cold will have done my peach trees good though. More cold hours this winter than they have ever seen before. I'm hoping for a big crop this season

We talk about being frugal on here sometimes. Here's something I always do and can't seem to stop. If I have tubes of makeup or cream (no toothpaste bec I have one of those roller things that squeezes all the toothpaste out) when I get where I can't squeeze any more out, I turn it upside down to let every bit possible flow to the top.

When I can't get any more that way, I cut a big capital "I", one long vertical cut with horizontal cuts on each end. I can get the rest out. And if there is too much left for one use, and there usually is, I put the cut tube in a zip lock I keep in my bathroom so it won't dry out. I usually get at least a week more by doing this. I just can't stand to buy something and leave a week in it when I throw the tube away.

I just can't throw away something I would otherwise use that I paid for. Now that is being frugal. Lol. If it sounds too weird, just find me a referral to a good therapist. Lol
not odd to me I do the same thing!!

Hey guys, its been a while since I last posted! I have a little sister who is interested in getting three or four hens to raise from hatch for fun. We are near the Baton Rouge area and are willing to drive about an hour out of the way, or two hour round trip (though I can be persuaded to travel a little farther). I was wondering if any of you are selling pure bred, nice quality hatching eggs or newly hatched chicks. She isn't sure what breed she wants, but I told her I'd see what was nearby and we'd go from there. I'm looking for a quiet, docile bird for a ten year old. Bantams or LF are fine, and so are different breeds. I'd personally like a dark brown egg layer and a blue/green egg layer for her, but it isn't very important. Thanks in advance for any help!

I lost one of my laying hens today, it appeared that she possible had a broken back could not get on her feet at all every once in awhile i will have one that jumps over the fence and roams around perhaps it was hit by a car i just dont know:(
