My 6 year old's favorite bird on our farm is a porcelain D'uucle rooster, named Gilbert.
I am horrible at cakes in general, but gave it my best shot! She loved it! We used 7 eggs from our flock for this cake. The buttercream frosting was shockingly good. I made a vanilla buttercream base then whipped in a chocolate ganache I made as an experiment. Honestly I've never tasted better even from professional or restaurant cakes. So while the decoration is homely and inaccurate (can we say no wings?), it tasted fabulous and my 6 year old daughter was thrilled!
